Beneath The Surface

SESSION 8

HANDS ON

The object of this activity is to demonstrate that stewardship means passing on the blessings that God gives us. The entire group forms a circle.  Everyone is given an object that can be large, small or any shape (i.e.: bowling ball, trash can, shoe, etc).  On a signal, every one passes his object on the right, keeping the objects moving at all times.  When a person drops any object, he must leave the game, but his object stay in.  As the game progresses, more people leave the game making it harder and harder to avoid dropping an object since there are more objects than people.  The winner is the last person remaining.

ILLUSTRATING THE POINT

When do you eat the leftovers?

Would you serve leftovers to an invited guest?

Would you serve leftovers to a special guest like Jesus?

During this week as you prepare and enjoy your meals think also about these questions:

  1. Does Jesus get the leftover time you have?
  2. Do you use any of your best talents and abilities for Jesus?
  3. Is your giving to the Lord based on what you have left over?
  4. If you belong to Jesus, then he is already in you house. Is it possible that you could

Remember to pass the dinner plate to Jesus first instead of letting him eat the leftovers?

I THOUGHT I HEARD YOU SAY

A checkbook is a theological document – it shows who and what you worship.

Billy Graham

"Although we sometimes fret about not having enough time, nearly everyone has been given enough of it to do something with it. Time is the raw material of life. Much can be accomplished with it."

Jim Mumme

"God gives where He finds empty hands.  A man whose hands are full of parcels can't receive a gift."
