Beneath The Surface
SESSION 3
HANDS ON
This is another activity that reinforces the needed for Bible study and scripture memory. Make several rows of chairs in the room and have a pre-selected verse for each row of chairs. Choose your verses carefully. Don't choose them all in the same place of the Bible. Ask you youth group to bring their bibles or provide them with one if they don't have one. You can play this in 2 different ways: 1- one big group or 2 - split into 2 teams. Have the players sit on the very back pew. You read out the Bible verse. The first one to stand and read it correctly (to your discretion) moves up a pew. This continues until the first person reaches the first pew. If splitting into teams, you could have the winner be the first team with all its members to reach the first pew.
Have two students step forward. One will be a born-again Christian who is witnessing to a lost soul, played by the other student. Give the born-again student a honey bun and have this person place it in his or her mouth without swallowing. Next, tell the born again student to witness to the lost person. He or she will sound foolish with their mouth full. The lesson is that Jesus is the bread of life and the word of God. If we do not digest the word, and make it part of us, we will sound foolish to the world. "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only." James 1:22

W. E. Gladstone
"The whole hope of human progress is suspended on the ever growing influence of the Bible."
W. H. Seward
"Bible reading is an education in itself."
